I think that this kit though has been out of production for a while, and thus may not be easy to find (or cheap if you do find it).
Other than that you can sometimes find an old 1/225 scale model of the USS Oregon (which was built in the 1890s) from a company that was called Glencoe models. Occasionally you may also see this kit sold as the Battleship St Panteleimon, which it was renamed later in life).įor vessels throughout the Pre-Dreadnought era (about 1870-1906), there are a number of resin kits from makers like Combrig, but these can be expensive and resin kits are probably not the best choice for a beginner modeler. Unfortunately the molds for this kit are quite old and show the effects of age, so that some kits end up with misshapen or warped parts and often a lot of flash, which unfortunately prevents it from being a good kit for a beginner (but it can be a fun kit to kitbash or play around with scratch building since it often can be found for cheap. As Martian notes, the HMS Agamemnon (and/or HMS Lord Nelson) appear to be good kits for late Pre-Dreadnaught era Battleships.
